Celebras the Cursed
Celebras the Cursed is a keeper of the grove, the son of Remulos and grandson of the demigod Cenarius, who went into Maraudon to free his uncle's spirit and was driven mad by its corruption. Defeating him lifts the curse: his spirit, Celebras the Redeemed, then forges the Scepter of Celebras, the key that lets a group skip straight to Princess Theradras.
Background
Keepers of the grove are the children of Cenarius's line: half night elf, half stag, and servants of nature. Celebras's uncle, Zaetar, fell in love with Theradras, and their children were the first centaur. The centaur murdered their father, and Theradras kept Zaetar's remains, and by most accounts his spirit, deep in Maraudon.
Celebras and his dryad sisters went into the caves to set Zaetar's spirit free. The poison that fills Maraudon overwhelmed them. His sisters now wander the caverns as corrupted dryads, and Celebras paces Poison Falls at the end of the Wicked Grotto, attacking anyone who comes near. His sister Cavindra, waiting in the outer caves, asks adventurers to help him "somehow."

Abilities
- Corrupt Forces of Nature: summons three treants to fight beside him for a minute. He starts the fight with three already at his side.
- Twisted Tranquility: a twisted version of the druid spell that damages nearby players, slows their movement by 70% and greatly slows their attacks.
- Wrath: a bolt of Nature damage at his target.
- Entangling Roots: roots a player in place and damages them over time.
His spells can be interrupted.
Strategy
The treants are the problem. They are weak on their own, but more keep coming, and they head for the healer if nobody holds them.
- The tank opens with an area threat tool, such as a warrior's Thunder Clap or Demoralizing Shout, so the first three treants stick to the tank.
- Interrupt Celebras's casts with Kick, Pummel, Counterspell or Earth Shock, especially the summons and Twisted Tranquility.
- Kill Celebras first, then clean up the treants with area attacks.
Strong players soloed him in Classic, but in a group the fight is short.
Loot
Celebras's three blue items each drop about a third of the time in our data.
| Item | Chance |
|---|---|
| [Claw of Celebras] | 33% |
| [Grovekeeper's Drape] | 33% |
| [Soothsayer's Headdress] | 33% |
| [Theradric Crystal Carving] | 80% |
The Claw of Celebras is a fist weapon that poisons its target, suited to rogues, shamans and hunters.
Quests
- Legends of Maraudon: Cavindra asks you to recover the Celebrian Rod from Noxxion and the Celebrian Diamond from Lord Vyletongue, then speak to her brother. Once Celebras the Cursed is dead, Celebras the Redeemed appears in his place and completes the quest.
- The Scepter of Celebras: Celebras the Redeemed asks you to follow him and read aloud from a tome while he channels the two halves back together. Everyone who does it receives the [Scepter of Celebras], which opens the portal in the middle of the outer caves straight to the inner caverns.

Freed, Celebras tells players about his father, Remulos, and his uncle Zaetar, who was jealous of his brother and fell for "an earthen elemental princess," against Remulos's warnings. He admits that he failed to free Zaetar's spirit. That task passes to whoever goes on to kill Theradras.
Trivia
- "Celebras" means "silver horn" in J.R.R. Tolkien's Elvish language Sindarin, as Warcraft Wiki notes.
Later history
Patch 3.0.8 removed the need for the scepter at the middle portal, and Cataclysm (patch 4.0.3a) took out the scepter quests and lowered his level to 37. Patch 7.0.3 gave him the newer keeper model.
