Commander Springvale
Commander Springvale led Baron Silverlaine's soldiers at the keep that became Shadowfang Keep. A paladin in life, he died fighting the worgen and now haunts the council room as a ghost, still giving orders to the dead men around him. He is the toughest of the keep's middle bosses because he heals himself and comes with a dangerous guard.
Background
Springvale commanded the soldiers who served Baron Silverlaine. When the worgen summoned by Arugal turned on the people of Gilneas and broke into the keep, Springvale fell along with everyone else inside. He was a paladin, a holy warrior of the kind trained by the Knights of the Silver Hand, and his ghost has kept some of that power.
He haunts the council room, where he once met with his lord, with a few of his men. In the Classic dungeon he is usually the fourth boss a group meets.

Abilities
- Hammer of Justice: stuns a player for a few seconds. On the healer, this is the dangerous part of the fight.
- Holy Light: heals Springvale or an ally for about 300 to 350 health. Left alone, he can undo a lot of a low-level group's damage.
Strategy
Springvale does not fight alone. He is pulled together with a Haunted Servitor and a Wailing Guardsman.
- Kill the Haunted Servitor first; it dies quickly.
- Keep the Wailing Guardsman away from the group. Its scream silences everyone nearby, which can shut down both the healer and the interrupters at once. A hunter's or warlock's pet, or an off-tank, can hold it to the side.
- Then focus Springvale, and interrupt every Holy Light. Kick, Pummel, Shield Bash, Earth Shock and Counterspell all work.
- Finish the Guardsman last.
If the group has no interrupts, it has to out-damage his heals, which takes far longer.

| [Arced War Axe] | 50% |
| [Greenweave Robe] | 0.75% |
The [Commander's Crest] is a rare shield with Stamina, Spirit and Strength, an upgrade for warriors and paladins who tank. The [Arced War Axe] is a two-handed axe with Strength and Stamina, good for leveling warriors and shamans.
Quests
No quest in patch 1.12 asks for Springvale. Horde groups on Arugal Must Die pass his room on the way to Arugal.
Later history
Patch 2.3.0 lowered him from level 24 to 20. In the Cataclysm rebuild (patch 4.0.3a) he became a death knight-style boss with Unholy Power, Desecration and a heroic version, and a later patch made him much stronger if he is pulled out of his room. The original fight returned with World of Warcraft Classic.
