Death Speaker Jargba
Death Speaker Jargba, the Death's Head Captain, is a quilboar priest and one of the bosses of Razorfen Kraul. Jargba's signature trick is mind control: partway through the fight a player can suddenly turn on their own group. The level 30 elite drops a set of caster gear, which made Jargba a favorite target for priests, mages and warlocks in their early 30s.
Background
The Death Speakers are the preachers of the Death's Head, a sect of quilboar priests who have taken up necromancy and joined The Scourge. They teach that Agamaggan, the boar demigod whose blood is said to have raised the thorns of the Razorfen, will rise from death again. They have two jobs: to spread that message and to punish quilboar who won't obey the crone Charlga Razorflank and her new undead allies.
Jargba stands out among them for breaking the will of dissenters outright, dominating their minds until they accept the orders of their leaders. That habit carries over to the fight, where Jargba does the same to adventurers. Jargba is a male quilboar in the original game; the rebuilt dungeon of Warlords of Draenor made Jargba female.

Abilities
- Dominate Mind: takes control of a player for a short time. The charmed player attacks their own group and can use their abilities on them.
- Shadow Bolt: a single-target Shadow bolt, cast between other spells.

Strategy
Jargba stands with a few Death's Head and Razorfen guards, so clear the area first and control the adds.
- Dominate Mind is the danger. If the tank is charmed, the boss and the guards turn on the healer. Keep a backup tank ready, or have someone able to hold the boss for the few seconds it lasts.
- Interrupt Shadow Bolt and Dominate Mind when possible. Both are cast spells.
- Players controlled by Jargba should be slowed or crowd-controlled, not killed. A Polymorph or a priest's Psychic Scream keeps them out of the fight until the effect ends.
- Jargba is not immune to fear. Warlocks have long used this: fear Jargba, use Curse of Tongues to slow the casts, and kill the guards while the boss is running. Clear the surrounding rooms first, or the fleeing boss pulls more quilboar.
Loot
| Item | Chance |
|---|---|
| [Death Speaker Scepter] | 33% |
| [Death Speaker Robes] | 33% |
| [Death Speaker Mantle] | 33% |
| [Band of Thorns] | 1% |
| [Treshala's Pendant] | 10% (on the quest) |
The scepter is a main-hand mace that adds to healing and Shadow damage, and the robes and mantle are cloth with Intellect and Spirit. Together they made Jargba a regular stop for casters running the Kraul.
Quests
- Mortality Wanes (Alliance): [Treshala's Pendant], wanted by Treshala Fallowbrook in Darnassus, can drop from almost any quilboar in the Kraul, Jargba among them.
Later history
Warlords of Draenor (patch 6.0.2) rebuilt Razorfen Kraul. Jargba came back as a female quilboar ghost, one of three spirits in the new Warlord Ramtusk encounter, sharing a spirit link with Ramtusk and Aggem Thorncurse. The original encounter returned with World of Warcraft Classic in 2019.
