Fallen Champion
The Fallen Champion is a rare undead warrior who sometimes rises in the Graveyard of the Scarlet Monastery. Once one of the Scarlet Crusade's champions, he now haunts the cemetery he was buried in, still wearing a champion's armor. He is a level 33 rare elite and one of three rares that share a single spawn point, so a group may see him, one of the others, or none at all.
Background
The Scarlet Crusade buries its dead in the monastery's graveyard, but the plague of undeath has not left them in peace. The Graveyard wing is full of restless spirits, zombies and skeletons, the remains of crusaders and of the undead the Crusade killed. The Fallen Champion is one of these risen dead. Apart from the missing tabard, he wears the same armor and carries the same kind of weapon as the living Scarlet Champions who guard the Cathedral, a hint at who he was in life.
The other two rares that can take his place are just as grim: Azshir the Sleepless, a restless spirit, and Ironspine, a huge skeleton. Together they make the Graveyard a gamble for loot hunters.
The game gives the Fallen Champion no name or story beyond that. His rarity, and the chance at a strong two-handed sword, made him a reason to run the short Graveyard wing more than once.

Abilities
- Cleave: strikes his target and the enemy nearest to it for extra weapon damage.
- Execute: a heavy finishing blow against a player at 20% health or less.
Strategy
The Fallen Champion spawns in the Graveyard, the wing that ends with Bloodmage Thalnos. When he does not appear, the same spot may hold Azshir the Sleepless or Ironspine instead; only one of the three shows up at a time.
- He is a plain melee fight. The tank should face him away from the group so Cleave only hits the tank.
- Melee damage dealers standing beside the tank risk Cleave. Stay behind him.
- Keep the tank's health high. Execute is only a threat when the tank drops below 20%.
- Clear the wandering undead around him first. The Graveyard's spirits and zombies wander into fights.

Loot
| Item | Chance |
|---|---|
| [Morbid Dawn] | 33% |
| [Ebon Vise] | 33% |
| [Embalmed Shroud] | 33% |
Morbid Dawn is a two-handed sword with Stamina and Strength, a strong upgrade for a warrior or paladin around level 30. The Ebon Vise are leather gloves for rogues and druids, and the Embalmed Shroud is a cloth helm with Spirit and Intellect.
Later history
Patch 2.3.0 lowered his level to 32. Mists of Pandaria (patch 5.0.4) rebuilt the monastery and removed him. He returned with World of Warcraft Classic in 2019, and with the Scarlet Monastery of Old in retail patch 10.1.7.
