Gelihast
Gelihast is a murloc warlord of Blackfathom Deeps who fights with two swords from a cave full of his own kind. He is a quick kill for a careful group, but he attacks very fast and can cut down a caster in seconds. Behind him is a shrine that gives players a useful blessing once he is dead.
Background
According to the later Adventure Guide, Gelihast heard the call of the Old Gods and forced his way into Blackfathom Deeps, killing nearly a dozen surprised Twilight's Hammer cultists with his twin swords. The cult was impressed and let him stay. He built his own shrine in the ruins, where he offers sacrifices and receives blessings from the dark presence below the temple.
His cave lies along the tunnels that run from the south side of the Pool of Ask'ar toward the Moonshrine Ruins, and it is crowded with Blindlight Murlocs.

Abilities
- Net: throws a net that roots a player in place for a moment.
- Dual swords: he attacks very quickly, which adds up to heavy melee damage and interrupts spellcasting often.
Strategy
- Clear the cave carefully. The room is full of Blindlight Murlocs, and murlocs run away when they are hurt. A fleeing murloc that runs into Gelihast pulls him into the fight, which has wiped many groups. Kill runners before they get far, or slow them.
- Keep him on the tank. His speed makes him deadly on anyone else, especially cloth wearers.
- Burn him down. He has modest health for a boss and goes down fast once the group focuses him. Warcraft Wiki notes that a warrior using Retaliation with a two-handed weapon can kill him in a few seconds.
Once he is dead, the altar behind him can be used. It gives the Blessing of Blackfathom, which in patch 1.12 raised Intellect and Spirit by 5 and frost damage by up to 15. It is listed as a debuff and takes a debuff slot, but its effects are all helpful.

Loot
| Item | Chance |
|---|---|
| [Algae Fists] | 50% |
| [Reef Axe] | 50% |
| [Murloc Skin Bag] | 15% |
[Algae Fists] are rare mail gloves with Strength and Stamina, a solid tanking piece. The [Reef Axe] is a two-handed axe. The [Murloc Skin Bag] is a 10-slot bag, worth having for a character in their mid-twenties.
Quests
No quest in patch 1.12 asks for Gelihast.
Later history
Patch 4.0.3a lowered him to level 25. When Warlords of Draenor (patch 6.0.2) rebuilt the dungeon, the naga Subjugator Kor'ul killed him and took over his murlocs, and his body was left on an Altar of Blood. Patch 7.0.3 gave him a new model. The original fight returned with World of Warcraft Classic.
