Jed Runewatcher is a rare orc of the Blackhand Legion in Upper Blackrock Spire. He doesn't appear on every run, and when he does he can be in one of two places: the upper Hall of Blackhand, the room of the armorsmith Goraluk Anvilcrack, or the Furnace, where The Beast waits. He is a short fight with a small loot table of caster items.
Background
The Blackhand Legion is Rend Blackhand's own guard, the orcs who hold the upper halls of the spire between the Rookery and Blackrock Stadium. Jed is one of its members, and the game gives him no other story; his name and title are all there is.
The Hall of Blackhand is the outermost part of the spire. Its lower level holds the sealed door to the Upper Spire and the open entrances to the Lower Spire. Its upper level, reached by climbing the ramp out of the Rookery, is full of orcs, both standing and on patrol, and is where Goraluk Anvilcrack works. Jed's other spawn point, the Furnace, lies past the stadium, across a short bridge from General Drakkisath's throne room.
Abilities
Jed has no special abilities of note. He has far less health than the bosses around him, under 9,000 in our data, and dies quickly to a group geared for the Upper Spire.
Strategy
The trick with Jed is finding him. Players can type /target Jed at the start of a run to see whether he is standing in Goraluk's room. That only works for the Furnace once the group is past Blackrock Stadium, where Rend Blackhand is fought.
Fighting him is simple. Clear the orcs around him the way you would any pull in the hall, then tank him in place. Because he shares the hall with many patrolling Blackhand orcs, the main risk is a patrol walking into the fight.

Starfire Tiara is a cloth helm with intellect, [Briarwood Reed] a trinket, and Serpentine Skuller a wand. Like other officers of the Blackhand Legion, he often carries a Blackrock Bracer.
Quests
Jed is not the target of any quest.
- [[forever:quest:8994]]: in patch 1.10, the ghost [[forever:npc:16033]] needs forty Blackrock Bracers, which Jed and the other Blackhand orcs carry, before players can summon Lord Valthalak.
Trivia
- Jed was removed from the game in patch 6.0.2, when Warlords of Draenor replaced the Upper Spire with a new instance held by the Iron Horde.
