Lady Sarevess

Lady Sarevess is a naga sorceress who keeps her own cove in Blackfathom Deeps, working for the Twilight's Hammer cult. She is a caster boss who moves around her cave while she fights, and her cone of lightning can hit a whole group at once if the tank lets her face the wrong way.

Background

The naga are the twisted descendants of the night elves who served Queen Azshara and sank with her capital at The Sundering. In Blackfathom Deeps they have made common cause with the Twilight's Hammer, a cult that worships the Old Gods and tends the hydra Aku'mai in the depths of the temple.

According to the later Adventure Guide, the cult gave Sarevess a private cove and kept sending her fresh sacrifices. In return she was to research magical protection that would let the cultists worship their terrifying hydra without becoming its next meal. Her cove lies through submerged passages from the Pool of Ask'ar, the great flooded cavern of the dungeon.

Abilities

• Forked Lightning: lightning in a cone in front of her, hitting every player in it. It can be interrupted.
• Frost Nova: freezes nearby players in place.
• Slow: slows a player's movement and attack speed.
• Shoot: a ranged attack when she is not casting.

Strategy

• Face her away from the group. Forked Lightning is her main damage, and it only hits what is in front of her. The tank should turn her so that the cone points at nothing but the tank.
• Interrupt Forked Lightning when possible.
• Watch the room. She moves around her cave during the fight, and it is easy to drag her into another pack of naga. Clear her cove before pulling, or keep the fight near the entrance.

Frost Nova makes melee players stand still, so ranged damage and a healer standing back are useful here.

Loot

[Naga Battle Gloves] are rare leather gloves with Spirit, Stamina and Strength. [Naga Heartpiercer] is a bow, and [Darkwater Talwar] a one-handed sword that can hit its target with a shadow bolt.

Quests

• Researching the Corruption (Alliance): Gershala Nightwhisper in Auberdine, Darkshore, fears that the blood elves, dabbling in demonic magic, will be twisted the way the naga and satyrs were. He wants eight brain stems from the naga and satyrs of Blackfathom Deeps. Sarevess drops one most of the time.

Trivia

• Warcraft Wiki credits Kath Soucie as Sarevess's voice.

Later history

Patch 2.3.0 lowered her to level 23. When Warlords of Draenor (patch 6.0.2) rebuilt the dungeon, she became a corpse on an Altar of Blood: the naga Domina had sacrificed her to the Old Gods for failing to provide the protection she promised. She returned in her original role with World of Warcraft Classic.
