Lorekeeper Polkelt is a zombie who shambles through the Hall of Secrets, one of the six classrooms around the Headmaster's Study in Scholomance. His title says he once kept the school's knowledge; now he is a mindless undead with a body full of acid and disease. He is one of the six instructors who must die before Darkmaster Gandling appears.
Background
Classic tells almost nothing about Polkelt beyond his name and his room. As Warcraft Wiki puts it, whatever knowledge he kept is lost, since he is now a shambling, unintelligent monster.
Like the other side rooms, the Hall of Secrets opens off the Headmaster's Study, a two-level chamber in the middle of the lower school. Gandling appears there only after all six rooms have lost their teachers.
Abilities
Polkelt's attacks weaken the group over time.
- Corrosive Acid: lowers the armor of everyone near him for five minutes.
- Noxious Catalyst: strips a large amount of nature resistance from his target.
- Volatile Infection: a disease that makes its victim deal nature damage to their nearby allies every 15 seconds for two minutes.
Strategy
The fight is short but rewards care. Volatile Infection turns the infected player into a hazard for the people around them, so a priest or paladin should cure it at once, and anyone who is infected can step away from the group. Corrosive Acid hits everyone close to him, so ranged players keep their distance and the melee accept that their armor will drop. As with every instructor, his room's other undead should be cleared, because Gandling can later teleport a player into it.

Drop chances are from our database (patch 1.12). He shares the instructors' loot table, plus a Dungeon Set 1 piece of his own.

[Dreadmist Wraps] are the warlock's Dungeon Set 1 bracers (see Tier Sets). The 1.1% pieces come from four Scholomance armor sets that all six instructors share.
Quests
No Classic quest names Polkelt. He is the only one of the six instructors who does not drop a [Corruptor's Scourgestone]; in our data he drops the lesser [Invader's Scourgestone] instead, still worth turning in to the Argent Dawn.
Later history
Patch 4.0.3a lowered Polkelt to level 43, and Mists of Pandaria removed him with the old school. He returned with the Legacy of Scholomance in patch 10.1.5. In Hearthstone's Scholomance Academy he became a legendary card that sorts your deck, with flavor text written as a Haskell quicksort.
