Maleki the Pallid is a living human mage of the Cult of the Damned who guards one of the three ziggurats on the undead side of Stratholme. Among the first to join the cult, he has mastered frost and shadow magic and waits eagerly for the day he will be made a lich. Players knew him as the easiest of the three ziggurat guardians.
Background
The Cult of the Damned was Kel'Thuzad's organization of living worshippers of the Lich King, who spread the plague through Lordaeron before the Third War. According to the later Adventure Guide, Maleki was among its first members and showed a great talent for "the chill of the grave." He hones his dark magic in Stratholme so that he is ready when the Scourge remakes him as a lich, as it once did with Ras Frostwhisper.
Warcraft Wiki suggests he may lead the Thuzadin, a sect of the cult named after Kel'Thuzad whose shadowcasters fill the ziggurats; the game does not say so directly. His ziggurat is one of three whose crystals seal the Slaughterhouse of Baron Rivendare.
Abilities
- Frostbolt: frost damage that slows its target.
- Ice Tomb: encases his target in ice, stunning them for six seconds.
- Drain Life: shadow damage over five seconds that heals him.
- Frost Armor: slows melee attackers.
Strategy
Maleki is a caster with the least health of the three ziggurat guardians, about 22,000 in our data, and he dies quickly. His frostbolts and frost novas are not very strong. The spell to watch is Drain Life on his main target, which should be interrupted or healed through. After he dies, the group finishes clearing his ziggurat so its Ash'ari crystal falls.
His ziggurat is also home to cultists such as Thuzadin Shadowcasters, and every one of them has to die before the crystal topples, so the clear around him takes longer than the fight itself.

Drop chances are from our database (patch 1.12). Since patch 1.4 he always drops at least one rare.

[Skull of Burning Shadows] is a caster off-hand. [Devout Sandals] are the priest's Dungeon Set 1 sandals (see Tier Sets). The [Plans: Hammer of the Titans] teaches blacksmiths a two-handed mace and was one of the more valuable recipes in the dungeon. He also drops a [Corruptor's Scourgestone].
Quests
- The Baron run: his ziggurat's crystal is one of three that must fall to open the Slaughterhouse, and patch 1.10's [[forever:quest:8945]] added a 45-minute timer to save Ysida Harmon.
- The Active Agent: Betina Bigglezink at Light's Hope Chapel wants Scourge data from the ziggurats.
Later history
Patch 4.0.3a lowered him to level 51. He still guards his ziggurat in the Service Entrance version of Stratholme.
