Ribbly Screwspigot

This is revision 1, from Oct 29, 2026 04:23. See the current page.

Ribbly Screwspigot is a goblin con man hiding from bounty hunters in the Grim Guzzler, the tavern of Blackrock Depths. His own family wants his head, quite literally, to collect the price a Booty Bay baron has put on it. He is a small fight compared to the dungeon's real bosses, but he drops a blacksmithing plan that made him worth a visit for many smiths.

Background

Ribbly has always been the black sheep of the Screwspigot family. The Adventure Guide that the game used for a time says he borrowed money again and again and wasted it on get-rich-quick schemes. The last one, Ribbly's Chewable Gunpowder, failed so badly that Baron Revilgaz, the goblin who runs Booty Bay, put a bounty on him. Ribbly fled to the one place he hoped nobody would follow: a dwarven tavern deep under Blackrock Mountain.

His sister Yuka Screwspigot is delighted. As she puts it in her quest, the family is thrilled that "our little Ribbly's finally worth something." She asks adventurers to bring him back, or, if he won't come quietly, just his head.

Abilities

  • Hamstring: a hit that slows the target's movement for 5 seconds.
  • Gouge: incapacitates a player for a few seconds.
  • Runs away: at 30% health he tries to flee.

When a player speaks to him, he tries to sell them his latest plan to get rich. Choosing the threatening answer ("You're good for nothing, Ribbly. It's time to pay for your wickedness!") makes him cry "No! Get away from me! Help!!" and starts the fight.

Strategy

Ribbly sits among the Grim Guzzler's neutral patrons, and the fight starts as soon as he is challenged. Fighting in the middle of the tavern risks drawing in the dwarves around him, so careful groups deal with anyone close to his seat first.

He has less health than any other boss in the dungeon and goes down quickly. The thing to watch is his attempt to flee at 30% health: if he gets away, he can bring other enemies back with him. A stun, a slow or a quick burst of damage as he nears 30% keeps the fight in one place.

Loot

From our database (patch 1.12):

Item Chance
[Ribbly's Head] 100% (quest)
[Plans: Dark Iron Plate] 25%
[Ribbly's Quiver] 25%
[Ribbly's Bandolier] 25%
[Wayfarer's Knapsack] 25%

The [Plans: Dark Iron Plate] teaches blacksmiths to make Dark Iron Plate, a fire-resistant chest piece that has to be forged at the Black Anvil. [Ribbly's Quiver] and [Ribbly's Bandolier] are hunters' 16-slot quiver and ammo pouch, each raising ranged attack speed by 14%. The [Wayfarer's Knapsack] is a plain 16-slot bag.

Quests

Later history

Ribbly received a new model in patch 4.0.3a, and the Adventure Guide entry about him was removed in patch 7.0.3. In the Timewalking version of Blackrock Depths, he runs out of the Grim Guzzler into Shadowforge City when threatened, and has to be caught there.
