Un'Goro Crater

Un'Goro Crater is a sunken jungle in southern Kalimdor, set between Tanaris and Silithus, with quests for characters from about level 48 to 55. Cut off from the rest of the world by its walls, it is full of dinosaurs, giant plants, oozes and silithid, and it holds titan machinery that hints at the crater's purpose. It is one of the few zones in Classic with no faction town: both sides share a single camp, Marshal's Refuge.
Geography
The crater is a near-perfect circle ringed by cliffs. Its center is dominated by Fire Plume Ridge, an active volcano surrounded by fire elementals and lava. Around it lie the Golakka Hot Springs to the west, the Lakkari Tar Pits to the north, the Slithering Scar silithid hive in the south, and the Terror Run, a stretch of jungle in the southwest where the devilsaurs roam. Marshal's Refuge is built into caves on the northern cliff.
Three crystal pylons stand at the crater's edges, and the Shaper's Terrace in the south holds a titan platform. Colored power crystals grow all over the crater floor and can be gathered by anyone.
History
Lore holds that the crater was shaped by the Titans as a kind of garden or laboratory for life, and that it survived the Sundering largely unchanged. The pylons and the Shaper's Terrace are the visible traces of that work. In Classic the story is told mostly through quests: the goblin and gnome researchers at Marshal's Refuge study the pylons and crystals, and the Marshal Expedition, a family of explorers, has set up camp to study the crater despite the dangers around them.
Quests and notable NPCs
Almost all quests here are open to both factions.
- Marshal's Refuge: Williden Marshal and his family lead the expedition. Williden's Journal returns a lost journal to him, and Hol'anyee Marshal studies the hives in Alien Ecology.
- Crystals and pylons: J.D. Collie runs Crystals of Power and the three pylon quests, starting with The Northern Pylon. The crystals collected along the way can be turned into short-lived buffs.
- Ringo: Spraggle Frock asks players to find his friend Ringo in Lost!. The escort that follows, A Little Help From My Friends, requires reviving Ringo with a canteen whenever he faints.
- A-Me 01: the gorilla robot escort Chasing A-Me 01 ends with Karna Remtravel.
- Torwa Pathfinder: at the crater entrance, Torwa Pathfinder sends players after the raptor Lar'korwi in The Bait for Lar'korwi and the gorilla king U'cha in The Mighty U'cha.
Linken
The most famous chain belongs to Linken, an amnesiac adventurer found in the jungle. His quests are a tribute to The Legend of Zelda: It's a Secret to Everybody and It's Dangerous to Go Alone borrow lines from the game, Linken himself is named after its hero, and the reward choice at the end includes [Linken's Boomerang] and [Linken's Sword of Mastery]. Along the way players summon the water elemental Aquementas in Tanaris and defeat Blazerunner on Fire Plume Ridge.

Dinosaurs and gathering
The crater's most feared residents are the devilsaurs: huge elites that walk the jungle and kill unprepared players in a few bites. King Mosh, a rare variant, is level 60. Their hides drop [Devilsaur Leather], used by leatherworkers to make Devilsaur Gauntlets and Leggings, which made "devilsaur hunting" a well-known Classic pastime and a frequent source of world PvP.
Other materials gathered here include [Un'Goro Soil], which druids of the Cenarion Circle need to grow Morrowgrain, and power crystals such as the [Red Power Crystal].
Getting there
The main way in is a long ramp down from western Tanaris, where Torwa Pathfinder keeps watch. A path in the crater's northwestern corner leads out into Silithus. Marshal's Refuge has a flight master, [[forever:npc:10583]], who serves both factions.
