Wolf Master Nandos

Wolf Master Nandos is the worgen packmaster of Shadowfang Keep and the last of Arugal's servants standing between a group and the archmage. He keeps a pack of worgs that fight first while he watches, and he calls in more of them once he joins the fight himself.

Background

Nandos rules the lesser worgs of the keep, the wolves that run with Arugal's worgen. He is part of the Shadowfang pack and the last of Archmage Arugal's henchmen on the path to the top of the keep. His own pack stands with him: one of each kind of worg found in the dungeon.

When the group has killed his wolves, he takes it personally. "I can't believe it! You've destroyed my pack... Now face my wrath!" he shouts, and comes for them.

Abilities

Nandos calls worgs to him during the fight, one at a time:

Each summoned wolf stays for up to four minutes unless it is killed.

Strategy

The fight comes in two parts.

  1. The pack. Four wolves, a Bleak Worg, a Slavering Worg, a Wolfguard Worg and a Lupine Horror, attack first while Nandos waits. Crowd control helps a great deal here, and area attacks are worth using while the wolves are grouped on the tank.
  2. Nandos. He joins once his pack is dead and summons new worgs as he fights. Kill each new wolf quickly or have an off-tank hold it, then return to Nandos.

The fight is long for a group with low damage, so the healer's mana is the main limit. Start the pull with full mana.

Loot

Item Chance
[Feline Mantle] 50%
[Wolfmaster Cape] 50%
[Fortified Shield] 17%

[Feline Mantle] is a rare pair of cloth shoulders with Intellect, a good find for casters, who have few shoulder options this early. The [Wolfmaster Cape] is a cloak with Stamina and Agility.

Quests

No quest in patch 1.12 asks for Nandos. He stands in the way of Horde groups on Arugal Must Die, since Arugal's chamber lies past him.

Later history

Patch 2.3.0 lowered him from level 25 to 21. In the Cataclysm rebuild of patch 4.0.3a, Nandos was turned into one of the ghost worgen Baron Silverlaine calls up during his fight; that version summons Lupine Spectres instead of real wolves. The original fight came back with World of Warcraft Classic.
