Zerillis is a rare elite sand troll hunter in Zul'Farrak. Unlike the city's named bosses, he isn't always there: he is a rare spawn, so many groups run the dungeon without meeting him. When he does appear, he is a ranged fighter who slows and nets his targets, and he has a good chance to drop a pair of leather boots.
Background
Zerillis is one of the Sandfury trolls who hold Zul'Farrak, the walled city in the deserts of Tanaris. Little is written about him; the game gives him no story beyond his name, his gear and his skills with ranged weapons. He serves Chief Ukorz Sandscalp, who dreams of restoring the Sandfury to the days when trolls ruled their lands without goblins, gnomes and other outsiders in the way.
In Classic, a rare elite was marked by a silver dragon around its portrait. Rare creatures share a spawn point with ordinary ones or appear only some of the time, which is why players often remember them as a lucky find.
Abilities
Zerillis fights like a troll hunter:
- Frost Shot: a shot that adds frost damage and slows the target's movement by 60%.
- Net: holds a player in place for a couple of seconds.
- Shoot: ordinary ranged attacks.
Strategy
Zerillis has only about 5,500 health, so a group at the right level can kill him quickly. Because he attacks at range, the tank should pull him around a corner or into melee range so he stops shooting and closes in. His Frost Shot and Net mostly hamper melee players trying to reach him; once he is held in melee range, the fight is short.
Since he can show up among the city's trolls, check for him before pulling nearby packs so he doesn't join a fight unexpectedly.
Loot
From our database (patch 1.12):
| Item | Chance |
|---|---|
| [Troll Temper] | 55% (on the quest) |
| [Sandstalker Ankleguards] | 19% |
| [OOX-17/TN Distress Beacon] | 2% |
The Sandstalker Ankleguards are rare leather boots with Agility, Spirit and Strength, useful for rogues, druids and hunters. Like most of Zul'Farrak's trolls, Zerillis also carries Troll Temper for Troll Temper, and he can drop the [OOX-17/TN Distress Beacon], which starts Find OOX-17/TN!, leading to Rescue OOX-17/TN!, an escort quest for a robot chicken in Tanaris.
