Gasher

Gasher is one of the six undead troll champions who guard the upper ring of the Sunken Temple. He is a minor boss, but an essential one: Jammal'an the Prophet sits behind a magical barrier that falls only when all six champions are dead. Gasher also carries an Amber Voodoo Feather, which four classes need for their level 52 class quests.

Background

The Atal'ai priests of the Sunken Temple raise their own dead to serve them. Gasher is one of them: an undead troll posted on one of the balconies of the temple's upper ring, beside a pack of priests and skeletal servants. He and the other five champions, Zolo, Loro, Hukku, Zul'Lor and Mijan, keep the barrier around Jammal'an's lair in place. When the last of them dies, Jammal'an yells that the shield is down and calls the Atal'ai to rise.

The game gives Gasher no story of his own beyond that role. Our data lists his kind as undead and his faction as the temple's trolls.

Abilities

Warcraft Wiki lists no special abilities for Gasher. He fights in melee, and the danger at his balcony comes from the priests and undead around him, who join in if they are pulled together.

Strategy

• Each champion stands on a balcony around the upper ring. Clear the pack in front of the balcony first, then pull Gasher on his own.
• Kill all six champions, in any order, before trying to reach Jammal'an. The barrier won't fall until the sixth dies.
• If someone in the group is on one of the feather quests, make sure they loot the feather; it's a quest item only those players can take.

With 6,876 health in our data, Gasher is one of the quicker champions to kill. Zul'Lor, the toughest of the six, has almost three times as much.

Loot

Gasher always drops the [Amber Voodoo Feather] for players on the class quests, and usually a [Fetish of Hakkar] for the Horde quest The Temple of Atal'Hakkar. His armor table is the shared Atal'ai set that all six champions drop, each piece at a low chance.

Quests

The champions' feathers come in three colors: Amber from Gasher and Zul'Lor, Blue from Hukku and Mijan, Green from Zolo and Loro. Four level 52 class quests need one of each:

• Da Voodoo (shamans, from Bath'rah the Windwatcher)
• Forging the Mightstone (paladins, from Commander Ashlam Valorfist)
• Trolls of a Feather (warlocks, from Impsy)
• Voodoo Feathers (warriors, from Fallen Hero of the Horde)

Each offers a choice of blue rewards suited to the class.

Later history

Cataclysm (patch 4.0.3a) took Gasher and the other champions out of the temple when the dungeon was cut down.
