Jammal'an the Prophet
Jammal'an the Prophet is the spiritual leader of the Atal'ai, the troll priests trying to summon the blood god Hakkar the Soulflayer in the Sunken Temple. He preaches that Hakkar's return will make the Atal'ai immortal. Groups must break his barrier by killing six troll champions, then defeat him and his undead bodyguard, Ogom the Wretched, before the temple's final boss, the Shade of Eranikus, can be fought.
Background
Centuries after the Atal'ai were driven out of the Gurubashi Empire and their temple was sunk by the dragon Aspect Ysera, Jammal'an led them back into the ruins. He claims to have had a prophecy: bring Hakkar into the world, and the Atal'ai will live forever. According to the Dungeon Journal added in Cataclysm, the vision told him to use the blood of the green dragons who guard the temple to raise his god.
Not every troll believed him. The Atal'ai Exile, now living among the Witherbark trolls of The Hinterlands, warned his people that the prophecy might be a trick and was thrown out of the tribe for it. He wants Jammal'an's head.

Jammal'an waits in the Lair of the Chosen, protected by a magical barrier tied to the six champions on the temple's balconies: Gasher, Zolo, Loro, Hukku, Zul'Lor and Mijan. When the last one dies, he shouts that the shield is down.
Abilities
Jammal'an mixes a priest's and a shaman's spells.
- Hex of Jammal'an: turns a player who isn't the tank into a raging troll who attacks the group with greatly increased damage. He yells "Join us!" when he casts it.
- Healing Wave: heals himself or Ogom. At 10% health he yells that Hakkar shall live again and tries to heal himself until his mana runs out.
- Flamestrike: a pillar of fire on the ground that burns everyone in it.
- Earthgrab Totem: a totem at his feet that roots nearby players every few seconds.
Ogom adds Shadow Bolt, Shadow Word: Pain and Curse of Weakness.
Strategy
- Clear every troll in the Lair of the Chosen first, living or dead; anything left will join the fight.
- Decide early who handles the hexed player. A mage's Polymorph, a priest's Mind Control or a rogue's Sap or Gouge keeps the hexed player from killing the healer. If the hexed player is a healer, they will heal Jammal'an and Ogom.
- Break the Earthgrab Totem quickly with a wand or a ranged attack.
- Interrupt his heals, and drain his mana with Mana Burn or Drain Mana if your group has a priest or warlock.
- Many groups kill Ogom first, since his Shadow Bolts hurt more than Jammal'an's melee and he has little health.

Loot
Jammal'an always drops his head for the Atal'ai Exile's quest. His three blue cloth pieces each drop about a third of the time in our data.

Quests
- Jammal'an the Prophet: the Atal'ai Exile in The Hinterlands asks for the [Head of Jammal'an], so that his people can be free of the prophet.
- The Temple of Atal'Hakkar: the Horde quest from Fel'zerul in Stonard needs twenty [Fetish of Hakkar], which Jammal'an often drops.
Killing Jammal'an is also what makes the Shade of Eranikus attackable, and, according to Warcraft Wiki, brings the drakes Dreamscythe and Weaver into the central chamber.
Trivia
- Jammal'an is voiced by Chris Metzen, Blizzard's longtime story lead.
Later history
Patch 2.3.0 lowered his level from 54 to 50. A version of him returned in Season of Discovery, in the Sunken Temple raid.
