Goraluk Anvilcrack

Goraluk Anvilcrack is the Blackhand Legion's armorsmith in Upper Blackrock Spire, an orc blacksmith who once sold his soul to a demon and then ran away with the payment. He is an optional boss in the upper Hall of Blackhand, and the best source of rare blacksmithing plans in the spire, including the epic Invulnerable Mail.

Background

Goraluk is a smith of the Blackrock Clan who works for Rend Blackhand's guard, the Blackhand Legion. His story comes from a quest in Winterspring. There the satyr Lorax tells players that Goraluk made a deal with him and sold his soul, but broke the bargain and fled with the [Unforged Rune Covered Breastplate]. Lorax wants his due: Goraluk's soul, collected with a bloodied pike, and the breastplate back.

Goraluk stands on the upper level of the Hall of Blackhand, which players reach by climbing the ramp out of the Rookery. The hall is full of Blackhand orcs, and the rare Jed Runewatcher sometimes wanders the same room.

Abilities

• Backhand: stuns his target for two seconds.
• Head Crack: lowers his target's stamina for a short time.
• Strike: a heavy melee blow.

His line on aggro: "Your skulls I shall crack with all the might of Blackrock."

Strategy

Goraluk is one of the easier fights in the Upper Spire. He has much less health than the bosses around him, and his stuns are short. Groups clear the orcs around him on the upper level of the hall, then pull him and tank him in place.

He stands off the main path to Blackrock Stadium, so groups that don't need his loot sometimes skip him. Blacksmiths, and players on Lorax's quest, rarely do.

Loot

Drop chances are from our database (patch 1.12).

The plans teach blacksmiths three sought-after recipes: Invulnerable Mail, an epic mail chest that can briefly make its wearer immune to melee damage; the Arcanite Champion, a two-handed sword; and the Masterwork Stormhammer, a mace. His Mastersmith's Hammer is a one-handed mace, and the Handcrafted Mastersmith pieces are plate armor. During the Feast of Winter Veil he also drops a Green Winter Hat.

Quests

• The Demon Forge: Lorax gives players the [Blood Stained Pike]. After they kill Goraluk, they use it on his corpse to draw out his soul, which turns it into the [Soul Stained Pike]. They also need to find the Unforged Rune Covered Breastplate. The reward is the [Plans: Demon Forged Breastplate].
• [[forever:quest:8994]]: he often carries a Blackrock Bracer for [[forever:npc:16033]]'s patch 1.10 quest.

Trivia

• Goraluk was removed in patch 6.0.2 along with the rest of the old Upper Spire.
