High Priestess Jeklik
This is revision 1, from Oct 29, 2026 04:23. See the current page.
High Priestess Jeklik is the high priestess of Hir'eek, the bat god, and usually the first boss a raid fights in Zul'Gurub. She opens the fight as a giant bat, calling swarms of bloodseeker bats, then returns to troll form at half health to heal herself and throw chained Mind Flays while bat riders firebomb the raid. Like the other four high priests, she has to die before Hakkar the Soulflayer can be fought safely.
Background
When Hakkar returned to Zul'Gurub, the trolls sent a group of high priests into the city to stop him. Each was a champion of one of the loa, the animal gods the trolls worship: Jeklik of the bat, Venoxis of the snake, Mar'li of the spider, Thekal of the tiger and Arlokk of the panther. All of them fell under the Blood God's power and were forced to channel their strength into him. The Zandalar Tribe, camped on Yojamba Isle, asks adventurers to kill them. See Gurubashi Empire for the history of the city.
While she lives, Jeklik lends Hakkar the Aspect of Jeklik, which gives him her Sonic Burst. She waits on a rise to the right of the path into the city, the first priest most raids reach.

Abilities
Bat form (100% to 50%).
- Sonic Burst: damages everyone nearby and silences them for ten seconds.
- Swoop: a frontal attack that stuns.
- Charge: charges a player at range, damaging and stunning them.
- Blood Leech and Pierce Armor, which heal her and cut the tank's armor.
- Summon Frenzied Bloodseeker Bats: every minute or so she calls eight Frenzied Bloodseeker Bats to attack the raid.
Troll form (50% to death).
- Great Heal: a four-second heal for about 92,000 health, more than a quarter of her total.
- Mind Flay: shadow damage that slows its target; since patch 1.12 it chains to nearby players.
- Psychic Scream, Shadow Word: Pain and Curse of Blood.
- From 35% health, Gurubashi Bat Riders fly overhead and drop Throw Liquid Fire, leaving patches of fire on the ground.
Strategy
The first phase is a race. Raids pull her down from her rise to a spot where they can see the bats coming, with only the tanks in melee range and the rest of the raid at maximum distance. Mages save their mana for the bat waves, which are gathered up, frozen with Frost Nova and killed with area spells. The goal is to push her to 50% before the third or fourth wave; Warcraft Wiki's strategy notes call two waves normal.
At 50% she becomes a troll priest and pauses for a few seconds. From then on, interrupting decides the fight. Warriors and rogues stay in melee with a rotation of Kick, Pummel and Shield Bash, and mages Counterspell, so that neither Great Heal nor the chained Mind Flay ever completes. One heal that gets through can undo a minute of damage. When the bat riders arrive, the tank keeps her moving slowly in a circle, because the firebombs take a couple of seconds to land and the raid can walk out of them. Fire resistance auras and totems help.

The [Jeklik's Crusher] is a two-handed mace. Like every high priest, Jeklik drops one of the Primal Hakkari items, such as the [Primal Hakkari Tabard] or [Primal Hakkari Aegis], which the Zandalar on Yojamba Isle turn into class set pieces. She also drops [Primal Bat Leather], used in leatherworking patterns sold by the Zandalar.
Quests
Jeklik's [Channeler's Head] is one of the five heads that Exzhal asks for in A Collection of Heads, along with those of the other four high priests. The quest rewards a choice of belt made of shrunken heads, such as the [Belt of Shrunken Heads] and [Belt of Preserved Heads].

Later history
Zul'Gurub was removed as a raid in Cataclysm. In the quests that led up to the new dungeon in patch 4.1, Jin'do's shade tries to raise the dead high priests, and Zandalari agents destroy Jeklik's body before she can be brought back.
