Houndmaster Loksey

Houndmaster Loksey trains the war dogs of the Scarlet Crusade and is the first boss of the Library wing of the Scarlet Monastery. He is a level 34 elite who fights with three elite tracking hounds at his side, and he is one of the four Scarlet leaders that both factions are sent to kill. His loot is all about dogs, including a whistle that summons a hound of your own.

Background

Loksey is the captain in charge of the hounds the Crusade uses to hunt down its enemies, dogs said to be able to tear a victim apart in minutes. He counts among the four leaders of the Scarlet Monastery whom Raleigh the Devout of the Alliance and Varimathras of the Forsaken both want dead.

His family shows up elsewhere. His brother, [[forever:npc:16132]], was sent to Light's Hope Chapel as the Crusade's emissary when it made an uneasy alliance with the Argent Dawn. Leopold's view of his brother was low: he thought Loksey couldn't even look after his own dogs, let alone speak for the Crusade.

Abilities

• Battle Shout: raises the melee attack power of Loksey and his hounds.
• Bloodlust: speeds up an ally's attacks for 30 seconds, usually one of his dogs or himself.
• Enrage: at about 25% health he enrages and hits harder.
• Hounds: three elite Scarlet Tracking Hounds fight with him.

When he spots the group, Loksey shouts "Release the hounds!", the same line Mr. Burns uses in The Simpsons.

Strategy

Loksey waits in Huntsman's Cloister, the first part of the Library, with his three hounds.

• The hounds are beasts, so a mage can Polymorph one, a druid can Hibernate one and a hunter can trap one.
• The tank holds Loksey while the rest of the group kills the hounds one at a time. Once they are dead, everyone turns on Loksey.
• Area damage helps against the hounds, and if the rooms around have been cleared, Fear is safe to use.
• Save cooldowns for the enrage at 25%.

Loot

The [Dog Whistle] summons a tracking hound to protect its owner. Loksey's Training Stick is a staff that gives 60 attack power against beasts, and the Dog Training Gloves add 30 against beasts.

Quests

• In the Name of the Light (Alliance): Raleigh the Devout in Southshore asks for the deaths of Loksey, Herod, Scarlet Commander Mograine and High Inquisitor Whitemane.
• Into The Scarlet Monastery (Horde): Varimathras in Undercity sets the same four targets.
• Hearts of Zeal (Horde): Loksey drops [Heart of Zeal] for Master Apothecary Faranell in Undercity, like the other Crusaders in the monastery.

Later history

Mists of Pandaria (patch 5.0.4) rebuilt the monastery and removed Loksey. In Shadowlands his soul turns up in Revendreth, where the venthyr punish him for his crimes and he scorns their methods as child's play. The original encounter returned with World of Warcraft Classic in 2019, and with the Scarlet Monastery of Old in retail patch 10.1.7.
