Jandice Barov

Jandice Barov is the ghost of the Barov family's daughter, a former archmage of Dalaran who now haunts a basement vault of Scholomance. In life she was a master of illusion, and in death she fights the same way: partway through the fight she splits into a crowd of copies, and the group has to find the real one.

Background

The Barovs owned Caer Darrow and much of southern Lordaeron. When Kel'Thuzad promised them immortality, Lord Alexei and Lady Illucia handed the keep and its crypts to the Cult of the Damned. The cult killed them, and the family now serves the school as undead. Jandice was their daughter. Her brothers, Alexi Barov and Weldon Barov, survived and now fight each other over the family's deeds.

Jandice had trained in Dalaran and developed a spell that showed several images of her body that were nearly impossible to tell apart from the real one. In Scholomance she is also said to carry the "blood of innocents" from Doctor Theolen Krastinov to his master, Kirtonos the Herald.

Abilities

• Summon Illusions: she vanishes and is replaced by 15 illusions of herself, each attacking the group for 30 seconds. The real Jandice is hidden among them.
• Curse of Blood: makes everyone nearby take more physical damage for ten minutes.
• Banish: removes one player from the fight for a few seconds.

Strategy

Her room fills up with trash that comes back quickly, so groups clear it, then fight her without delay. The danger is the illusion phase. Area attacks kill the illusions quickly, and players looked for the one Jandice whose health bar was already damaged. A macro that targets her by name, or a focus frame, helps find her again each time she splits. Once she dies, the illusions fade a few seconds later.

Loot

Drop chances are from our database (patch 1.12). Since patch 1.4 she always drops at least one rare.

[Dreadmist Mantle] is part of the warlock's Dungeon Set 1 (see Tier Sets). The [[forever:item:22394]] was added with patch 1.10. Patch 1.9 also added a book that spawns after her death and teaches tailors the [[forever:item:21369]].

Quests

• Krastinov's Bag of Horrors: Eva Sarkhoff sends you after Jandice for [Krastinov's Bag of Horrors], the second step of the chain that ends with Kirtonos the Herald.
• After that chain, Jandice also drops [Blood of Innocents] for players who want to summon Kirtonos again.

Later history

Jandice was rebuilt as a new encounter for Mists of Pandaria, with Wondrous Rapidity, Gravity Flux and fifteen copies to sort through. She also appears as a Hearthstone card in Scholomance Academy.
