Quartermaster Zigris

Quartermaster Zigris is the orc who keeps the Bloodaxe Legion's supplies in Lower Blackrock Spire. He is an optional boss, tucked away in the Storehouse off the main route, but many groups stop for him anyway: he always carries a stack of the best healing and mana potions in the game, and he is one of the few sources of the blacksmithing plans for the Annihilator.

Background

Zigris is a hunter by trade. The later Adventure Guide says that after the First War he became infamous for tracking down refugees fleeing the fall of Stormwind and killing them like game. He now serves Overlord Wyrmthalak's Bloodaxe Legion as quartermaster, but he hates the spire's cramped halls and waits for the day he can hunt in the open again.

His post is the Storehouse, where the Blackrock orcs keep their weapons, armor and ammunition in rows of crates and barrels. Zigris walks among them barking orders at his underlings. The room is reached by climbing the stairs above Urok Doomhowl's ledge and turning left; Halycon's lair is just down the hall.

Abilities

  • Hooked Net: throws a net that damages and roots a random player for a few seconds.
  • Stun Bomb: a bomb that deals fire damage in a small area and stuns everyone in it.
  • Shoot: fires his gun at anyone out of melee range, and he will back away to get a shot.
  • Drink Healing Potion: drinks one of his own potions to heal himself.

Strategy

The danger with Zigris is the room, not the orc. He wanders among the crates while packs of Bloodaxe orcs stand around the edges, and he likes to step back to use his gun. If he is fought where he stands, he tends to back into those packs and pull them in.

Groups clear the packs on one side of the room and the hallway outside, then wait until Zigris walks near that side and pull him out into the hall, around the corner so he has to come to them. From there it is a tank-and-spank fight. His healing potion can be interrupted or simply out-damaged.

Loot

Drop chances are from our database (patch 1.12).

Item Chance
[Major Healing Potion] 100%
[Major Mana Potion] 100%
[Cloudrunner Girdle] 15%
[Hands of Power] 15%
[Plans: Annihilator] 10%
[Quartermaster Zigris' Footlocker] 12%

He drops five Major Healing Potions and Major Mana Potions every time, which makes him worth the detour for a group short on consumables. [Plans: Annihilator] teaches blacksmiths to make the Annihilator, a one-handed axe whose hits can strip the target's armor. His footlocker holds a random assortment of goods. He also has small chances at many Dungeon Set 1 belts and bracers, and like other Blackhand and Bloodaxe officers he can drop [[forever:item:22138]] for the patch 1.10 quests.

Quests

Zigris is not the target of any quest in patch 1.12, but one of his drops counts toward a later one:

  • [[forever:quest:8994]]: [[forever:npc:16033]], the ghost at the spire's entrance, needs forty Blackrock Bracers before players can summon Lord Valthalak.

Trivia

  • In patch 4.0.6 (Cataclysm) he began dropping the Worg Carrier pet, which in Classic was a reward from Kibler's quest for a caged worg pup taken from Halycon's den.
