Rhok'delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers is the epic bow from the Classic hunter class quest, given by the petrified Ancients of Felwood. Its companion, Lok'delar, Stave of the Ancient Keepers, comes from the same chain. The quest is remembered for four solo fights against disguised demons, which tested a hunter's kiting and preparation more than almost anything else in the game.
How to get it
The Ancient Leaf
The chain begins in Molten Core with the [Ancient Petrified Leaf], a hunter-only item that can appear in the chest Majordomo Executus leaves behind. Like the Eye of Divinity for priests, it is not guaranteed, and many hunters waited weeks for one. The leaf starts The Ancient Leaf, which asks the hunter to find its owner. The owner is Vartrus the Ancient, one of three Ancients standing petrified in Irontree Woods in northern Felwood.
Three tasks for the Ancients
The three Ancients each have a task, and each one adds a piece of the finished set.
The [Mature Blue Dragon Sinew] drops from Azuregos, the blue dragon world boss in Azshara. The [Mature Black Dragon Sinew] drops from Onyxia in Onyxia's Lair. Both dragons need a raid, so a hunter needed a guild willing to bring them along and hand them the sinew. Hastat's reward, the [Ancient Sinew Wrapped Lamina], is an 18-slot quiver that raises ranged attack speed by 15 percent, and it does not require finishing the demon task.

Stave of the Ancients
The heart of the chain is Stave of the Ancients. Vartrus gives the hunter a [Petrified Bark] with clues to four demons hiding in disguise around the world:
- Simone the Seductress, who poses as Simone the Inconspicuous
- Klinfran the Crazed, who poses as Franklin the Friendly
- Solenor the Slayer, who poses as Nelson the Nice
- Artorius the Doombringer, who poses as Artorius the Amiable
Each must be fought alone. The hunter can be buffed beforehand but may not bring a pet or get help during the fight. If anyone else joins in, the demon flees, and any other class that comes near is blasted with heavy damage. Each fight demands a different plan. Players stocked up on demon-slaying elixirs, mana and healing potions, and Felwood items such as Whipper Root Tubers. Artorius, who has to be kited constantly, was the fight that sent many hunters back to try again.
Bringing the four heads to Vartrus earns the [Ancient Rune Etched Stave]. Using the stave while carrying the [Enchanted Black Dragon Sinew] from Stoma strings it into [Rhok'delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers].
Rhok'delar and Lok'delar
[Rhok'delar, Longbow of the Ancient Keepers] is a 2.9-speed bow with 89 to 166 damage, 1 percent critical strike chance and 17 ranged attack power. It was among the best ranged weapons available until the later raids, and it stayed a point of pride long after.
[Lok'delar, Stave of the Ancient Keepers] is a 3.2-speed staff with 26 Stamina, 15 Intellect, 2 percent critical strike chance, 10 Nature resistance and bonus attack power against demons. When the chain was added in patch 1.4, the bow and staff were one weapon that could switch forms, much like Benediction. Patch 1.8 removed the switch. After that, a hunter who had made Rhok'delar could speak to Hastat to receive Lok'delar as a separate item.
Lore
The Ancients of Felwood were among the mightiest of their kind until the demons of the Burning Legion corrupted their forest. They were left petrified, but their spirits remain. The demons in the quest are agents of the Legion still hiding in the world, and the bow is made from the Ancients' own wood. According to the item lore, Rhok'delar sprouts blossoms on its own, while Lok'delar glows with the power of nature.

History
Rhok'delar was added in patch 1.4 along with other class quests tied to Molten Core. Hunters who earned both weapons were later given a legacy achievement, The Ancient Keeper. The chain was removed in Cataclysm, and the bow and staff became items that only veteran hunters still carry.
