Shadow Hunter Vosh'gajin

Shadow Hunter Vosh'gajin is a forest troll of the Smolderthorn tribe, one of the two troll leaders in Tazz'Alor in Lower Blackrock Spire. She is a caster who fights with hexes and curses rather than a blade, and she is best remembered for the quest from her old lover, the troll smith Kilram, who wants her snakestone and still wears the scar she gave him.

Background

The Smolderthorn are forest trolls who joined Rend Blackhand's Dark Horde in the spire. Their domain, Tazz'Alor, spreads over two levels joined by long ramps, and its lowest floor is the bottom of the spire's tunnels. The tribe is led by War Master Voone, with Vosh'gajin as its shadow hunter, a troll spellcaster trained in curses, hexes and healing magic.

The later Adventure Guide describes her as famous among the trolls both for her beauty and for her violent streak. The best account of that streak is Kilram, a troll blacksmith in Everlook, Winterspring. He tells players that the scar on his face was a "love tap" from Vosh'gajin, and he sends them to collect her snakestone.

Abilities

• Hex: turns nearby enemies into frogs for a few seconds, so they can't attack or cast. The hex reaches players close to her, and it does not make her drop her threat on the tank.
• Curse of Blood: a curse that slightly increases the physical damage its victims take. It can be removed, but it barely matters.

Strategy

Vosh'gajin stands on the upper level of Tazz'Alor among Smolderthorn trolls, so groups clear the trolls around her first. The fight itself is short. Casters and healers stand well back, about 20 yards, so her hex only catches the tank and melee. Mages and priests with curse or magic removal can clean up after the hex if it lands on a healer. Then she can be tanked in place until she dies.

Many groups kill her on the way to Voone, since the two stand close together and both must be passed to reach the rest of the dungeon.

Blackcrow is a crossbow and Riphook a bow, two of the better ranged weapons for hunters reaching level 60, and Doomshot is a stack of arrows she always carries. The [Shadowcraft Gloves] belong to the rogue's Dungeon Set 1.

Quests

• Snakestone of the Shadow Huntress: Kilram in Everlook asks for [Vosh'gajin's Snakestone], which she always drops. He rewards it with the blacksmithing plans [Plans: Dawn's Edge].
• The Final Tablets: Prospector Ironboot in Tanaris asks for the [Fifth Mosh'aru Tablet] and [Sixth Mosh'aru Tablet], which are kept in Tazz'Alor. The sixth lies right behind War Master Voone.

Trivia

• Bijou, a goblin trapped in the spire, hides behind a rock on the upper level of Tazz'Alor, close to the trolls' leaders. She starts the Lower Spire quest Bijou's Belongings.
