Silverpine Forest
This is revision 1, from Oct 29, 2026 04:23. See the current page.
Silverpine Forest is a dark coastal woodland south of Tirisfal Glades, and the second zone for Forsaken characters, covering levels 10 to 20. The Forsaken hold it from a single base, the Sepulcher, against worgen, gnolls, the mages of Dalaran and the curse of Shadowfang Keep, the castle that looms over the southern road.
Geography
Silverpine is a long strip of tall pine forest between the Great Sea on the west and Lordamere Lake on the east. The forest is greener than Tirisfal but just as gloomy.

- The Sepulcher, in the center, is the Forsaken outpost: a crypt and graveyard in a forest clearing, with an inn and a bat handler.
- Shadowfang Keep, in the south, is a castle on a cliff above the road. Its lord's line is gone and its halls are full of worgen.
- Pyrewood Village, south of the keep, looks like a normal human village by day. Its people are cursed and turn into worgen at night.
- Ambermill, in the south-east, is held by mages of Dalaran.
- Fenris Isle, in Lordamere Lake, is a gnoll stronghold with a ruined keep.
- The Dead Field, the Ivar Patch and Malden's Orchard are farms in the north, now home to gnolls and undead.
- The Decrepit Ferry, on the lakeshore, was once a crossing to the Alterac Mountains.
- The Greymane Wall, at the far south, is a huge barrier that seals off the human kingdom of Gilneas. Its gates are closed.

History
Silverpine was part of Lordaeron's western lands, close to the border with Gilneas. Before the Third War, Gilneas built the Greymane Wall and left the Alliance, cutting itself off from the rest of the world.
During the war, Archmage Arugal of Dalaran tried to fight the Scourge by summoning worgen, wolf-like creatures, from another realm. They turned on the people of the region. Arugal, driven mad by guilt, took over Shadowfang Keep, the castle of Baron Silverlaine, and now rules the worgen from its towers. The curse spread to Pyrewood Village.

The Forsaken claimed the forest after the war and fight to hold it. Their scouts, the Deathstalkers, have suffered heavy losses in the woods.
Quests and notable NPCs
Silverpine has around 40 quests in our database, nearly all for the Horde. Most begin at the Sepulcher.
The worgen and Arugal
Dalar Dawnweaver studies the worgen curse in the Arugal's Folly chain. Players gather shackles from the worgen (Arugal's Folly, Arugal's Folly) and finally kill Grimson the Pale in Arugal's Folly. The ambush in Pyrewood Village, Pyrewood Ambush, has players help a Deathstalker fight the village council as they turn into worgen.
The Deathstalkers
High Executor Hadrec, the Sepulcher's leader, sends players after his lost scouts in Lost Deathstalkers. Escorting Deathstalker Erland through the wolves (Escorting Erland) is one of the first escort quests for many Horde players. Hadrec also offers The Dead Fields against the gnolls of the Dead Field and, at the end of the zone, Assault on Fenris Isle, the attack on Thule Ravenclaw and his gnolls on Fenris Isle.
Apothecaries and Dalaran
- Apothecary Renferrel works on a new plague for the Royal Apothecary Society. A Recipe For Death sends ingredients to the Undercity, and Journey to Hillsbrad Foothills sends players on to the Hillsbrad Foothills.
- Ivar the Foul sends players to the Ivar Patch to kill Ivar the Foul.
- Shadow Priest Allister investigates the Dalaran mages at Ambermill in Border Crossings and The Weaver, which ends with the death of Archmage Ataeric.
Dungeons
Shadowfang Keep (Shadowfang Keep) is a level 18 to 25 dungeon in the south of the zone. Its final boss is Archmage Arugal. Both factions run it, but for Alliance players it means a long trip through Horde territory.
Getting there
From Tirisfal Glades, follow the road south from Brill past the Undercity. The Sepulcher has a bat handler for flights. The road continues south-east around Lordamere Lake into the Hillsbrad Foothills and the Horde town of Tarren Mill.
Later history
In Cataclysm (2010), the worgen became a playable Alliance race, and the Forsaken invaded Gilneas through Silverpine. The zone was rebuilt as a war front between them.
