Targorr the Dread

Targorr the Dread is an orc prisoner in The Stockade, Stormwind's prison, and once the chief executioner of the Blackrock Clan's raiders in the Redridge Mountains. Sentenced to die but kept alive by a stalled execution order, he is usually the first named inmate groups meet after the riot, and the people of Lakeshire want his head.

Background

After the Second War, many orcs refused to give up the fight. In Redridge, east of Elwynn Forest, the Blackrock orcs under Gath'Ilzogg still raid the farms and the town of Lakeshire. Targorr served Gath'Ilzogg as his chief executioner, and Lakeshire's guard remembers him for torturing captured defenders of the kingdom at whim, cruel even by the standards of his clan.

He was eventually captured and sent to the Stockade, sentenced to death. Then one of the nobles at court put a hold on the execution, and Lakeshire's guard suspects foul play. When the Defias Brotherhood prisoners rose up and took the cell blocks, Targorr joined the riot, and the guard decided not to wait for Stormwind's courts any longer.

Abilities

• Thrash: gives him extra attacks.
• Enrage: makes him faster and stronger for a while.

He fights with a weapon in each hand. With extra attacks and enrage, he can deal a lot of damage in a short time, so the healer needs to be ready from the first swing.

Strategy

Targorr has a cell in one of the Stockade's wings, with other inmates nearby.

• Pull the other prisoners in his room first; he won't join their fight.
• Then let the tank pick him up and burn him down. He has modest health for a boss, so the fight is short if the damage dealers start right away.
• Save a defensive cooldown or a big heal for when he enrages.

Like the rest of the Stockade, the run is short: many groups finish all the quests in under an hour.

Loot

Targorr has no special loot of his own, only his head for the quest and the cloth, food and coins that any humanoid carries.

Quests

• What Comes Around...: Guard Berton in Lakeshire tells Targorr's story and asks the player to go into the Stockade and behead him before any more political tricks keep him alive. The reward is a choice of [Lucine Longsword] or [Hardened Root Staff].

Trivia

• Targorr uses an older orc model from the game's alpha, different from the orcs players know.

Later history

Targorr was removed when Cataclysm (patch 4.0.3a) rebuilt the Stockade around a new riot led by different prisoners. The 1.12 version returned with World of Warcraft Classic in 2019.
