Amnennar the Coldbringer
Amnennar the Coldbringer is the lich who rules Razorfen Downs and the final boss of the dungeon. A servant of the Lich King left behind in Kalimdor after the Third War, he turned the quilboar burial grounds into the first great stronghold of The Scourge on the continent. He is a level 41 elite who fights with frost magic and calls spectral servants, and both factions send players to destroy him.
Background
Amnennar and his forces fought in the Scourge's assault on Mount Hyjal during the Third War. Afterward the Lich King ordered him to stay in Kalimdor and spread the Scourge's influence. Amnennar set out to build a base from which to strike at Orgrimmar and Theramore, and he found his recruits among the quilboar, a people recently pushed from their lands and desperate. He promised them power over death so they could drive invaders away.
Two stories tell how he took the Downs. In one, the quilboar allied with the Scourge willingly: the Death's Head, a sect of quilboar priests, embraced necromancy, and a Scourge envoy courted the crone Charlga Razorflank of the Kraul by letter. In the other, told in the book Compendium of Fallen Heroes, Amnennar built the abomination Tartek the Enraged, who killed more than 1,200 quilboar before falling, and raised the dead as an undead army. Both may be true. Either way, Amnennar now commands the Death's Head from the top of the Downs.

Abilities
- Frostbolt: Frost damage on one player, slowing them.
- Frost Nova: Frost damage to everyone near him, freezing them in place.
- Amnennar's Wrath: knocks a player back.
- Chilled: his frost armor can slow the movement and attacks of anyone who strikes him.
- Summon Frost Spectres: during the fight he summons Frost Spectres to his side, three times in all.
Strategy
Amnennar waits at the top of the Spiral of Thorns, the great bramble ramp at the heart of the Downs, beside a brazier of cold flame.
- The Frost Spectres die when Amnennar does. Most groups ignore them and burn the lich down.
- The tank should keep the spectres too if possible. They hit fairly hard, but healing can cover it as long as they stay on the tank.
- Frost Nova roots everyone close to him. Healers and casters should stand at range.
- Amnennar's Wrath throws a player back. A healer knocked out of range should move back in quickly.
- Interrupt Frostbolt when you can.

Later history
Since his phylactery was never destroyed, Amnennar does not stay dead. In the rebuilt Razorfen Downs of Warlords of Draenor (patch 6.0.2), Death Speaker Blackthorn tries to raise him again; when Blackthorn falls, Amnennar rises, and after the lich is beaten once more, the red dragon Koristrasza carries his phylactery away to be destroyed. The original encounter returned with World of Warcraft Classic in 2019.
