Bloodlord Mandokir
This is revision 1, from Oct 29, 2026 04:23. See the current page.
Bloodlord Mandokir is the warlord of Zul'Gurub, a troll who rides into battle on his raptor Ohgan. He's an optional boss, but almost no raid skipped him: he's the source of the rare [Swift Razzashi Raptor] mount and always drops a [[forever:item:22637]] for the Zandalar's enchantments. His fight is famous for Threatening Gaze, which kills anyone who acts while he watches them, and for the way he "levels up" each time he kills three players.
Background
Mandokir is a powerful jungle troll who serves Hakkar the Soulflayer in the reborn city, and a leader among the Gurubashi; see Gurubashi Empire. His constant companion is Ohgan, the raptor he rides. Unlike the five high priests, he gives Hakkar no extra power, so the raid can leave him alive, but his loot made him one of the most farmed bosses in the instance.
He waits on a raised platform overlooking a courtyard, beneath the chained ghosts of troll prisoners. The encounter begins when the raid kills the Vilebranch Speaker, an envoy of the Vilebranch tribe who stands below him.

Abilities
When he engages, Mandokir dismounts and fights alongside Ohgan.
- Threatening Gaze: Mandokir watches one player for a few seconds. If that player moves, attacks or casts while watched, he charges and strikes them with a hit for around 15,000 damage, enough to kill anyone.
- Level Up: every three players he kills raise his level, making him larger and stronger. He yells "Ding!" when it happens, and Jin'do the Hexxer answers "Grats!"
- Charge: charges a player at range, stuns them and resets his threat.
- Whirlwind, Mortal Strike, Overpower, Intimidating Shout and Execute on targets below 20% health.
- Enrage: if Ohgan dies first, Mandokir becomes enraged for a minute and a half, attacking faster and harder.
Ohgan stacks Sunder Armor on his target, 1,000 armor per stack, and thrashes.
Around the courtyard, Chained Spirits float toward dead players and Revive them with full health and mana. There are only a limited number per attempt.
Strategy
The raid pulls by killing the speaker, then separates the two: the main tank holds Mandokir, and off-tanks take Ohgan away, swapping every few stacks of Sunder Armor. Raids then chose an order. Some killed Mandokir first so that Ohgan never died and his enrage never happened, which meant a long fight for the off-tanks. Others killed Ohgan first and weathered the enrage with every healer on the main tank and cooldowns such as Shield Wall.
Two rules apply throughout. When Mandokir's gaze falls on you, stop everything until it ends. And don't die: each death brings him closer to his next level, and a couple of levels usually means a wipe. Mages cast Amplify Magic on everyone, since all of his damage is physical. After each charge, damage dealers pause so the tank can win him back.
Loot
Drop chances are from our database (patch 1.12).
| Item | Chance |
|---|---|
| [[forever:item:22637]] | 100% |
| [Swift Razzashi Raptor] | 2% |
| [Mandokir's Sting] | 8.3% |
| [Bloodlord's Defender] | 8.3% |
| [Warblade of the Hakkari] | 8.3% |
| [Halberd of Smiting] | 8.3% |
| [Zanzil's Seal] | 8.3% |
| [Hakkari Loa Cloak] | 8.3% |
| [Primal Hakkari Tabard] | 11.1% |
| [Primal Hakkari Kossack] | 11.1% |
| [Massive Mojo] | 9% |
The [Swift Razzashi Raptor] is one of the two rare mounts of Zul'Gurub, alongside High Priest Thekal's tiger, and remained a prized collectible after the raid was removed; see Swift Zulian Tiger. The [Mandokir's Sting] is a bow, the [Bloodlord's Defender] and [Warblade of the Hakkari] are one-handed swords, and the [Halberd of Smiting] is a polearm. He also drops Primal Hakkari items for the Zandalar class sets.
Quests
The [[forever:item:22637]] is what makes Mandokir worth killing every week. Zanza the Restless, a Zandalar spirit inside the raid, offers head and leg enchantments for each class in exchange for an idol and a class-specific Punctured Voodoo Doll, in quests such as Presence of Might for warriors and Hoodoo Hex for warlocks. Jin'do the Hexxer also drops the idol.

Later history
Mandokir's body was desecrated after his death, but in Cataclysm Ohgan's daughter Ohgan'aka found his skull, and he was raised again. He led Gurubashi attacks on Stranglethorn and returned as a boss of the five-player Zul'Gurub in patch 4.1.
