Brood of Nozdormu

This is revision 1, from Oct 29, 2026 04:23. See the current page.

The Brood of Nozdormu is the bronze dragonflight, guardians of time, as a reputation faction. In Classic its envoy Anachronos waits outside the Caverns of Time in Tanaris, and its agents follow the war against the Qiraji in Silithus. Every player starts at the very bottom, Hated, and climbing out takes a long campaign in Ahn'Qiraj. The rewards are the Signet Rings of the Bronze Dragonflight and the tier 2.5 armor.

Who they are

When the titans ordered the world, they gave the bronze dragon Nozdormu power over time itself. Since then he and his brood have guarded the timeline and watched the paths of fate. The bronze dragons take little interest in the affairs of the mortal races, which is why players begin as Hated: to the Brood, mortals are at best irrelevant.

A thousand years before the game, in the War of the Shifting Sands, Anachronos and the other dragonflights helped the night elves seal the Qiraji behind the Scarab Wall, and Anachronos shattered the Scepter of the Shifting Sands when the night elf leaders quarreled. In Classic the seal is failing. Anachronos returns, and the bronze dragons gather champions for the assault on Ahn'Qiraj.

Where to find them

  • Anachronos stands outside the Caverns of Time in Tanaris. He gives the signet ring quests and the end of the scepter chain.
  • Baristolth of the Shifting Sands at Cenarion Hold in Silithus, a bronze dragon in disguise, starts the long quest line for the Scepter of the Shifting Sands.
  • Inside the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, three dragons hide near the entrance: [[forever:npc:15502]], [[forever:npc:15504]] and [[forever:npc:15503]]. They exchange armor tokens for the tier 2.5 sets and take the Qiraji Lord's Insignia.

Earning reputation

Starting at Hated means the first stretch is all killing. The large trash of the Temple of Ahn'Qiraj, such as [[forever:npc:15277]] and Vekniss soldiers, gives reputation up to the end of Neutral, and every boss of both Ahn'Qiraj raids counts. After that, turn-ins carry the rest:

  • [[forever:item:21229]]. Each boss of the temple drops one, turned in to [[forever:npc:15503]] in [[forever:quest:8579]].
  • [[forever:item:21230]]. Found on the temple's monsters, it is taken to the dragons in [[forever:quest:8784]].
  • Armor quests. Each tier 2.5 piece is a quest for the dragons, and they give a large reward, so guilds gained Brood reputation steadily from their own loot.
  • One-time quests. [[forever:quest:8791]] for the head of [[forever:npc:15339]] in the Ruins, and [[forever:quest:8801]] for the [[forever:item:21221]] from C'Thun, give reputation with both the Brood and the Cenarion Circle.

The Scepter chain also gives reputation, among them [[forever:quest:8288]] for the [[forever:item:20383]] from Broodlord Lashlayer and [[forever:quest:8301]] for 200 [[forever:item:20384]].

Rewards

Signet Rings of the Bronze Dragonflight

Anachronos offers one of three rings: the tank ring in [[forever:quest:8747]], the melee ring in [[forever:quest:8752]] and the caster ring in [[forever:quest:8757]]. Each comes first at Neutral and is traded in for a stronger version at Friendly, Honored, Revered and Exalted. The final quests are [[forever:quest:8751]], [[forever:quest:8756]] and [[forever:quest:8761]], and the Exalted rings [[forever:item:21200]], [[forever:item:21205]] and [[forever:item:21210]] were among the best rings in the game.

Tier 2.5

Each class has a five-piece set from the temple, made from a token dropped by a boss plus scarabs and idols from the Ruins. The dragons will only make each piece for someone with enough standing, ranging from Neutral to Honored. For example, [[forever:npc:15502]] gives the [[forever:item:21329]] in [[forever:quest:8561]] for a [[forever:item:20926]] from the Twin Emperors.

The Scepter

The longest chain in Classic began with Baristolth of the Shifting Sands and ran through Blackwing Lair and the dragons of the world before ending with Anachronos and the Black Qiraji Resonating Crystal. Its last steps, such as [[forever:quest:8519]], belong to the Brood. The first player on each realm to finish it rang the gong that opened Ahn'Qiraj; see Opening of the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj.

History and trivia

  • The faction arrived in patch 1.9 along with the two Ahn'Qiraj raids.
  • During the gate-opening event, the war in Silithus gave huge amounts of Brood reputation: the three colossi alone were worth 2,000 each.
  • After Cataclysm, Anachronos moved inside the Caverns of Time, and the Brood's rings and armor became hard to earn once the raid was no longer current.
