Cenarion Circle
The Cenarion Circle is the ancient order of druids that watches over the natural world of Azeroth. Founded by night elves and named for the demigod Cenarius, it accepted tauren after the Third War and stands outside the war between the Alliance and the Horde. In Classic the Circle runs the neutral town of Nighthaven in Moonglade and the fortified camp of Cenarion Hold in Silithus, where it is the reputation faction behind the fight against the Twilight's Hammer and the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj.
History
Founding
Malfurion Stormrage, the first mortal druid, learned his craft from Cenarius before the War of the Ancients. After The Sundering, more night elves followed him into druidism, and Malfurion founded the Circle in Moonglade with Cenarius's blessing. The druids set rules for the use of their powers after some of their number, lost in their animal fury, had attacked friend and foe alike.

For thousands of years the druids slept for long stretches in the Emerald Dream, the realm of the green dragon Ysera, walking its paths in spirit while their bodies rested. From there they tried to heal the damage the Burning Legion had done to the world.
The Shifting Sands and the Third War
About a thousand years before the orcs arrived, the Circle fought alongside the night elf army in the War of the Shifting Sands. Druids and dragons together raised the Scarab Wall that sealed the qiraji inside Ahn'Qiraj. Archdruid Fandral Staghelm, whose son died in that war, later rose to lead the druids of Darnassus.
During the Third War, Tyrande Whisperwind woke Malfurion and the druids to fight the Burning Legion at Mount Hyjal. In the years since, Malfurion's spirit has been lost in the Emerald Dream, leaving Fandral in charge in Darnassus. The tauren of Thunder Bluff also joined the Circle, led by Arch Druid Hamuul Runetotem, so Horde and Alliance druids share the order.
In World of Warcraft
Moonglade
Moonglade is a sacred, peaceful valley between Felwood and Winterspring. Its town, Nighthaven, is protected by powerful wardens (Moonglade Warden) who stop any fighting. Druids visit at level 10 in Moonglade and learn to teleport there for their class quests, and Keeper Remulos, son of Cenarius, waits by the lake. The Great Bear Spirit, who also lives in the valley, is part of the druid bear form quest.
In the patch 1.9 quest line for [[forever:item:21175]], players defend Nighthaven and Remulos from the corrupted green dragon Eranikus in [[forever:quest:8736]].
Cenarion Hold and Silithus
Cenarion Hold in Silithus is the Circle's military outpost. Players arrive through Taking Back Silithus (Alliance) or Taking Back Silithus (Horde) and find a camp full of quest givers:
- Commander Mar'alith leads the Hold. His quest Dearest Natalia starts the search for his lost wife Natalia, which continues in Into The Maw of Madness.
- Geologist Larksbane studies Twilight's Hammer tablets in The Twilight Mystery and later asks for the ritual in The Calling.
- Huum Wildmane hunts the cult's leaders in Twilight Geolords and buys their decoded orders in Encrypted Twilight Texts.
- Bor Wildmane and Aurel Goldleaf fight the Abyssal Council, elemental lords that the cult summons. Players use cultist gear to call down templars, dukes and lords and bring back their crests, signets and scepters (Abyssal Contacts, Dukes of the Council, Lords of the Council, Scepter of the Council).
- [[forever:npc:15540]] runs [[forever:quest:8507]], a short trip to a war camp near the hives, and accepts the badges it rewards in [[forever:quest:9338]].

The Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj
After the Gates of Ahn'Qiraj opened, the Circle sent soldiers into the 20-player raid Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj, where [[forever:npc:15471]] and his night elf troops help players fight [[forever:npc:15341]]'s army. Players who kill [[forever:npc:15339]] bring his head to Mar'alith in [[forever:quest:8791]] and choose one of the [[forever:item:21504]], [[forever:item:21505]], [[forever:item:21506]] or [[forever:item:21507]]. The raid's class armor sets are also traded in at Cenarion Hold, and each piece needs a set level of Cenarion Circle standing.
