General Rajaxx

General Rajaxx is the qiraji war leader who commanded the swarms in the War of the Shifting Sands, and the second boss of the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj. His fight is a battle more than a duel: the raid and a small Cenarion Circle force hold a terrace against seven waves of qiraji officers and their troops before the general comes down to fight them himself. Rajaxx is also the one who leads the qiraji attack out of the gates on the day a realm opens them.

Background

A thousand years ago, in the War of the Shifting Sands, Rajaxx led the qiraji and silithid against the night elves of Kalimdor. The night elf army was commanded by Fandral Staghelm and his son Valstann. Rajaxx captured Valstann and tore him apart in front of his father, a moment that haunted Fandral for the rest of his life. The war ended when the dragonflights helped the night elves seal the qiraji behind the Scarab Wall, with Rajaxx trapped inside.

Qiraji legend, as told in the Ruins, adds that the Emperors never fully trusted him again. They set the anubisath champion Ossirian the Unscarred to watch over him, so that the general would never fail them a second time.

When the gates of Ahn'Qiraj open on a realm, Rajaxx is the first to come through them. During the ten-hour battle that follows the gong, he steps out in front of the gates and taunts the players, then leads the swarms into Silithus.

The encounter

After Kurinnaxx dies, [[forever:npc:15471]] and four [[forever:npc:15473]] arrive. Talking to Andorov starts the event, and a door closes behind the raid. Rajaxx's army waits in ranks on the General's Terrace, and it attacks in seven waves. Each wave is one named officer with a mix of Swarmguard Needlers and Qiraji Warriors:

  1. [[forever:npc:15391]], who fears the raid.
  2. [[forever:npc:15392]], who marks a player for all his troops to attack.
  3. [[forever:npc:15389]], who summons a hurricane.
  4. [[forever:npc:15390]], whose Shockwave hits everyone around him and roots them for a moment.
  5. [[forever:npc:15386]], who casts Blessing of Protection, making a target immune to physical damage.
  6. [[forever:npc:15388]], who knocks the raid back with Sweeping Slam.
  7. [[forever:npc:15385]], who enlarges himself and must be dispelled.

When the seventh wave falls, Rajaxx comes down himself. His main attack is [[forever:spell:25599]], a stomp that takes away half of every nearby player's health, deals a minimum amount of damage on top, and knocks them back. He also drops threat on his current target now and then.

Strategy

Andorov matters. He's a human officer working for the Cenarion Circle, and he heals the raid every few seconds with his aura and raises the casting speed and attack power of players friendly with the Cenarion Circle. During the waves the raid crowd-controls the Needlers and Warriors with fear, stuns, roots and traps, and kills each officer first. Tuubid's mark and Qeez's fear are the dangerous ones, and the tank pulls Drenn away from Andorov so his hurricane doesn't kill the general. The four elites and Andorov can be healed and buffed like players.

Against Rajaxx himself, the raid stands with its back to a wall so Thundercrash doesn't throw people around, and an off-tank stands ready for the moment he drops threat. If Andorov is still alive, his healing keeps players above the point where two Thundercrashes in a row would kill them. If he's dead, healers have to do that alone.

If Andorov and the elites survive, they stay for a few minutes and then leave, giving extra Cenarion Circle reputation. For two minutes after the fight, Andorov also sells bandages, healing and mana potions, and, to players with high enough reputation, plans for obsidian blacksmithing items.
